Ethan Breaks It Down On Christmas Eve

Merry Christmas to you all! Ethan wanted to break it down for you on Christmas Eve, and told me to put this on the "blog" for you. I think he takes after his dad!

WINTER WONDERLAND!

Today we went deep into the Colorado Mountains to find out what type of elevation and temperatures our bodies could take. With us on this scientific adventure were Angie's dad, "pop" or "coach" and mom "Moo" or "MaMoo". Our travels took us through unbelievable country covered with snow. A true winterwonderland. Our first stop was at Breckenridge, where we took some photos and got some coffee. It was so cold that boogers were frozen outside of the nostril as they tried to make their run to the lips - couldn't make it - too cold. Winter stopped these nasties dead in their tracks, between the nostril and lip. The coffee was exceptional - probably because we were numb.

We then made our way to Keystone, Colorado where we hit the slopes on a tube. Nobody crashed and noone was injured or hurt. Even "Pop" let her rip down some of Colorado's tamest powder snow and inclines. Levi also enjoyed a run down the hill. The only problem was, as you will see from the photos, you had to pull the tube back up the hill - which at 10,000 feet altitude is no spring picnic. I'm glad I had GatorAde in the car!

Another great photo below is Ethan and I getting ready for a tube run and Levi charging the hill solo without a tube! Don't worry, Pop caught him before he did the luge.

After that, it was to Keystone Lake for some old fashion ice skating. Ethan showed us all up. I think this will be even more clear after you watch the video. I don't think you're supposed to know what color skates the cameraperson is wearing!

Wishing you a Merry Christmas from cold, cold Colorado!

Ethan's 4th Birthday

Today we celebrated with Ethan as he turned 4! He had a big day and we had his party at Focus on the Family. Ethan had a firefighter party and had a blast. Several of his friends came to play and celebrate with him. After his birthday party he got to go to the Air Force Basketball game. Thanks to all who sent him presents. He loves them all!

A bonus performance from Levi on Stage at the end!

Merry Christmas from the Thompsons!

December is Here!

December is here and we are anxiously awaiting Ethan's birthday as well as the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ! We are amazed at this gift that God sent to all of us - the same God who slung the stars and galaxies into the sky and created us - born in a manger! Every year it is mind blowing.

Ethan and Levi recently went to a birthday party of a friend from a family in our small group. He had his party at a kids gym and Levi fit right in, even though he was one of the youngest. You'll get a kick out of the video as he tries to act like a big kid.

Right now we are in the middle of a snow storm. This morning the skies were clear and we all went outside to play in the snow. Merry Christmas!

Thanksgiving Fun with our dear friends Adam & Danielle Haynes

Happy Thanksgiving to all! We had a wonderful Thanksgiving with our good friends Adam & Danielle Haynes from Wichita Falls, Texas. It was great fun until Adam and I went to one of our favorite pizza restaurants (Adam reminds me his absolute favorite is Papa John's!), Beau Jo's Colorado Mountain Pizzas. Afterwords we went to ESPN Sportzzone in Denver and enjoyed IceCream Cookies that were insane. All of this drove Adam into a health tailspin that he may still be working his way out of!

The good news was that Adam healed enough to play spades and help me lose to the girls more often than we won. Angie's continuous hands of 9 plus spades was tough to defend. As Angie would say, "Are all these spades a good thing? or should I call a re-deal?"

Here are some pictures of the festivities, as well as the snow that hit us a second time on Friday, the day Adam & Danielle left. Ethan loved it and was able to sled to the mailbox!

World Series Weather is Here

Yesterday, on the 20th of October we went to the Air Force Academy football game. The weather was absolutely breathtaking. 75 degrees, a slight breeze, the works. We had a great day and enjoyed celebrating Angie's birthday together as a family. You can see a picture of Ethan and I in front of an Air Force glider just beyond the stadium on gameday.

Well, we knew there was a 70% chance of snow, but then again it snowed last sunday too, but didn't stick. We were stunned when we awoke this morning to find a winterwonderland. In fact, we got out the Clay Aiken Christmas CD to celebrate. We made it to church, but on the way back could not pull into the driveway due to a couple inches of snow that had accumulated while we were out. It was my first time ever to try out my trusty new snow shovel. But it had to be done, for the car could not get through the snow on the drive. The picture of the front of the house is obviously after I plowed the sidewalks and drive.

We were not prepared in the children's snow boot arena. Angie and I took the boys to Wal-Mart and got them some snow boots and then we frolicked in our back yard for a while. Ethan and I built a snowman, but really he looks like something out of a bank robber movie, because Ethan made me put my black knit cap on his head.

We enjoyed a beautiful day and we are amazed how God covers our sins up like this snow covered everything around us. What a great lesson to us today. We also are ready for the Rockies to play a World Series in the snow? We'll see, but rest assured there will be some serious fans ready to brave this cold. The afternoon temp here today was 29 degrees.

Levi enjoyed eating the snow. LOVED IT! He munched and munched. Had a blast until he rode the sled with his brother and went face first in the slow. Then he hated it. The picture speaks a thousand words.

Love you all and Go Rockies!

A Colorado Rocktober

Hi all! We have finally settled in here in Colorado. We have found a church (woodmen valley chapel) and Greg is enjoying the incredible opportunity of being called a teacher at one of the most prestigious universites in the world. God is good. Just Sunday, our family enjoyed the first snowfall of the fall. It was fun to watch quite a flurry fall. Levi is getting bigger and bigger and the Thompson family is awaiting your visit, we have plenty of room!

We recently went to the Colorado Rockies final game of the season and ushered in ROCKTOBER. I like to think our presence surged the Colorado Rockies to a scorching run through the playoffs, but this I doubt. Ethan and Levi loved it and the Rockies won their final game to force a playoff with the Padres, which they won.

At church we are getting involved in a small group, Angie is attending two women's bible studies during the week, and we are both taking care of the one year olds every other week for worship service. Ethan has started his first year of AWANAs. He calls it HAWANAS. Greg is a leader of the AWANA cubbies "Elephants". This consists of 15-20 3 year olds up past their bedtimes. Ethan is in the "Lions" and is enjoying the graham crackers and bible verses.

We wish you all the best and pray that you are having sweet opportunities to grow closer to our most awesome creator. Keep in touch and hope this, my first blog, is okay. Attached are some pictures.
